Public Health Nurse II

SALARY: $46,532 - $92,875

DESCRIPTION:

  • To provide preventive, primary, and rehabilitative public health nursing services to individuals, families, and MTWDHD employees through the administration of the Communicable Disease Program, Tuberculosis Program, Sexually Transmitted Infection Program, and Colposcopy and to coordinate, expand the Family Planning program in Martin County.
  • Complete the Introduction to Communicable Disease Surveillance and Investigation in North Carolina course offered by the Technical Assistance and Training Program of the CDB within one year of employment. Attend training provided by DPH for NCEDSS. Complete Introduction to Tuberculosis course.
  • To serve as part of the multi-disciplinary MTWDHD Epidemiological team responsible for planning actions prior to possible catastrophic/life-threatening events in order to safeguard the health of the community by preventing further loss of life or spread of disease.
  • To conduct concentrated epidemiological investigations concerning the cause and prevention of communicable diseases.
  • Independently plan, initiate and participate in gathering epidemiological data for statistical analysis to help determine the cause and means of prevention of communicable disease.
  • Serve as a communicable disease resource contact for the public schools, DSS, County Agencies, etc.
  • Schedule colposcopies as indicated for follow-up of abnormal pap smears.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience including one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION: A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the N. C. Board of Nursing

Public Health Nurse III

SALARY: $48,746 - $97,406

DESCRIPTION:
The primary purpose of this position is to develop, implement, and maintain documentation, evaluation and expansion of the Quality Assurance and Infection Control Program. To assure quality and safe delivery of nursing care and therapy services. To co-ordinate quality assurance activities that reflect the Home Care Agency’s philosophy and standards of care. Ensures desired outcomes are achieved and maintained. This position will ensure that all staff meet federal, state and agency guidelines and will direct and educate the staff in the proper methods to ensure compliance will all regulations. This position will also ensure that care is delivered in a cost efficient manner while maintaining high quality standards. This position will ensure that all staff participates in the quality improvement programs, infection control, education and overall evaluation of the agency. This position will participate in the home health management team and provide leadership and guidance to all staff with home health management team decisions and direction of staff, and ensuring that all staff meet and follow all guidelines. This position will also participate in the weekly on-call rotation for Home Health.
