SALARY RANGE: $31,503 – $57,339 (Typical Hiring Range)

DESCRIPTION: Coordinate the efforts of decreasing substance use and increasing mental health well-being of youth and young adults aged 12-25 in historically marginalized and underserved communities. Collaborate with partners to assess the needs of the community and choose appropriate strategies to reduce the onset and progression of alcohol and prescription medication misuse. Promote social emotional health and resilience of mental health in youth and young adults. Facilitate educational sessions in the school system, promote the program through community events, designing and disseminating marketing materials, presentations, and attending meetings with stakeholders. Participation in 2nd Judicial District Opioid Coalition, Safe Kids Riverbend Coalition, and other relevant coalitions and taskforces.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, health department staff, other community agencies and the general public. Should have some knowledge and experience in facilitating group sessions with adolescents, as well as assessment of needs and knowledge of community resources.  Ability to understand the social and psychological factors affecting client’s receptivity to information and behavior modification.  Ability to plan and coordinate work, deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions, ability to communicate effectively, ability to secure cooperation of clients, and to maintain effective working relationships, ability to accurately record services. Employee should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of health education and public health services.  

MINUMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through two years of experience in performing similar instructional and community placement tasks; or graduation from a two-year associate degree program designed to prepare support personnel for human services agencies which includes a six month practice/internship in a similar setting (one year of the above experience may be substituted for the practice).
