DESCRIPTION: The Dental Health Program will provide clinical restorative, preventive and educational services to underserved populations. Washington County Dental and Tyrrell County Dental offices provide services for all adults and children. The Mobile Dental Unit will provide services to school aged children.
The Dental Assistant provides direct assistance for all treatment provided by the Dentist and will also provide direct patient care under the direct supervision of the dentist as allowed by NC Dental Law for the purpose of delivery of preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care of children, adolescents, and adults.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities:Considerable knowledge of dental equipment, instruments, and procedures; Considerable knowledge of front office procedures; Considerable knowledge of preparation methods and dental materials; Ability to maintain records, inventories, and patient histories; Ability to deal with patients in a considerate and sensitive manner. Completion of SPICE Training, Certification to have Exposure to X-Rays, and a Coronal Polishing Certificate.
Minimum Education and Experience:Completion of a dental assistant program from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of on-the-job training as a dental assistant required x-ray training when needed. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
