DESCRIPTION: The primary purpose of the dentist position is to provide preventive and restorative dental care to school aged children across the three-county health district. Clinical services include emergency dental care for the relief of pain and/or infection as well as scheduled restorative, periodontics, and preventive dental procedures. The dentist will assist with community dental hygiene education and will supervise the mobile dental unit staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities
Must have clinic dental skills necessary to provide routine pediatric dental treatments. Sufficient medical, physiological and pharmacological knowledge to manage the dental treatment of children safely. Knowledge of preventive dental techniques, especially use of fluoride. Knowledge of dental health problems in the community. Ability to supervise both professional and sub-professional staff. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees, other health care professionals, educators, and the public and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with professionals and organizations within the state. Must also have the ability to record accurately the services rendered to and to interpret and explain records, reports, and medical instructions.
Minimum Education and Experience Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of North Carolina.
